BIOLOGIST and extreme angler Jeremy Wade will be the special guest at Frome Town Council’s ‘Love Your River Day’ on Saturday 13th February.
The River Frome actually is one of the best in the country for diversity and stocks of fish and Frome Town Council is partnering with the Environment Agency this spring to improve the river habitat for fish and wildlife in Rodden Meadow and Weylands.
The council is seeking volunteers to get involved with this project, and will be highlighting how at a ‘Love Your River Day’, based at the Canoe Club on Saturday 13th February.
Special guest Jeremy Wade is best known for his television programme River Monsters which sees him travel across the world catching various fish. Frome Town Council is hoping he will be sharing his knowledge and expertise with local anglers.
There is much to get involved with on the day including; angling demonstrations, signing up for canoe taster sessions (for a later date) and learning about the fish and other species that make the River Frome so diverse.
Young or aspiring anglers are encouraged to bring their own tackle with them. Frome anglers will be on hand to give invaluable tips on how to perfect your techniques – this activity will take place in the morning.
