A WONDERFULLY festive turnout of over 200 designs were entered into this year’s Mayor’s Christmas card competition, making the judging difficult for the Mayor of Frome, cllr Anita Collier.
Frome Town Council report, “Each year, the Mayor sends out a uniquely designed Christmas card to many different organisations and individuals who they have met over the year.
“Back in November, cllr Collier asked the children of Frome to come up with the most creative design around the theme ‘Frome’s Green Spaces’. Entries were received from budding artists up to the age of 12 from around Frome.
“There were so many wonderful entries the Mayor decided to add two highly commended to the winners. Arthur Mitchard of Oakfield School won the overall competition and is delighted to have his image on the front of the card that will be sent to over 500 recipients.
“The winners are: 1st place – Arthur Mitchard; 2nd place – Ivy Bowers; 3rd place – Oliver Watts. 1st highly commended – Poppy Wenlock; 2nd highly commended – Franklin Clayton
Cllr Anita Collier added, “I was so impressed with all the entries into my Christmas card competition, the standard was very high indeed. Arthur’s winning entry encapsulates the theme brilliantly, so it was only right that I presented his prize for winning in Victoria Park as depicted on his card.
“ I want to thank everyone who entered for all their brilliant and creative designs, it was a real honour to look through them all and I appreciate all the effort that went into them.”
All designs are being proudly displayed in the Town Hall, and images will be shared on Frome Town Council’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
