FROME Amateur Operatic Society (FAOS) is set to put on their next performance, ‘The Sound of Music’ at the Memorial Theatre showing from Tuesday 14th of May to Saturday 18th of May.
This will mark only the second time in FAOS’ history that the group has performed ‘The Sound of Music.’
The cast will feature Tabitha Cox in the main role as Maria Rainer, a young lady living in 1930s Austria, with her love of freedom getting in the way of her becoming a nun. She is sent off to be the governess to Captain von Trapp’s seven troublesome children.
The show contains classic songs such as ‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘Climb Every Mountain’, and ‘Edelweiss.’
The principal cast includes Joanne Plenty as The Mother Abbess; Teresa Bray as Sister Berthe; Lou Knight as Sister Margaretta; Vic May as Sister Sophia; Nevil Poole as Captain Georg Von Trapp; David Hynds as Franz, the butler and Lisa Kendall as Frau Schmidt, the housekeeper.
Two teams of young performers will play the seven von Trapp children. One team will perform on Tuesday, Thursday and the Saturday matinee, with the second team performing on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evening.
The show will start each evening at 7.30pm, with a matinee showing on Saturday 18th of May at 2.30pm. Tickets prices are £15 or £13 for concessions in stalls.
