WILLOW Men’s Group, based at Willow Vale in Frome, has now been running for nearly five years and with lockdown restrictions easing they have been able to resume meeting once a month and are looking to recruit new members.
Each session, held monthly for three hours on a Sunday evening, gives a chance for members to talk within a supportive and empathetic environment about issues that affect them or men in general.
James, a founding member, says, “A typical session opens with each of us giving a short ‘catch-up’, saying what is going well, what we are grateful for and what is challenging. Depending on what has been agreed by the group – which is peer-led – we then either discuss further aspects arising from these ‘catch-ups’ or talk about other relevant issues.
“Everything which is shared between the group is kept confidential within it and one of the group’s statements is to ‘listen without prejudice or judgement.”’
There are no fees or costs apart from bringing food to share with the group. Any men interested in joining the group, or who wish to discuss it further, should contact James via his email: james@jamesbartholomew. com
