FROME counselling charity, We Hear You (WHY), is starting a new therapy group for carers for people suffering from cancer or other life-threatening conditions.
WHY’s new therapy group has been set up with the help of funding from Macmillan Cancer Support and will run on Wednesdays starting after Easter.
Cath Wilkins, clinical manager at WHY said, “Supporting someone can sometimes be an isolating and stressful time, and people can feel that patients are the only ones deserving of support.
“However, we have found that it can be very beneficial for people to share their experiences of supporting and caring for others with those in similar situations.
“Being able to express feelings in a safe and confidential environment facilitated by professional counsellors can provide a healing experience with opportunities for learning and self-growth. We are therefore delighted to have secured funding for this important work.”

We Hear You will also be running a variety of groups over the next three years, catering for those moving on from cancer and also providing a group specifically for men.
