The new principal of Frome’s Avanti Park School has spoken about the challenges involved with taking up the role during the coronavirus lockdown.
The school reports, “Abby Atkins started as the new principal on Monday, April 20 2020 when the school was open to only a small number of key workers. Since then, the school has opened to more pupils and Abby is now able to meet more of her staff, parents, and of course the children.”
Abby said, “I have had a huge amount of support from everyone since starting and the young people themselves have been phenomenal.”
“Avanti Park School is the new name for the former Steiner Academy Frome and is part of the Avanti Schools Trust. From September 2020 the school will have a new curriculum and will also be consulting on the introduction of a uniform. Abby is ambitious for the school.
She explained, “I want Avanti Park School to become an outstanding school. I have a great team and we are all focused on improving the quality of teaching and learning and ensuring that standards are raised in all areas of the school.
“I want to provide a supportive, nurturing and dynamic environment for both students and staff, where hard work, ambition and achievement are valued.”
