Frome Food Assembly, Frome’s online farmer’s market, is to host its first local food Tasting Extravaganza of the new year on Wednesday 1st March.
Three new producers are to join the Assembly and showcase their produce at the event. Stuart the Flowerman (a familiar face from Frome’s Wednesday and Saturday market) will attend with Mendip grown daffodils, and other locally grown bulbs and flowers.
Eleni Yeatman of Yeatman Fine Foods near Wylye has sourced Extra Virgin Olive Oil directly from local producers in the Peloponnese in Greece from the olive varieties of Athinolia and Koroneiki.
“These produce the highest quality olive oil with 0.2 acidity for a rich flavour and pleasant aroma,”says Eleni. “Come along on Wednesday and discover it for yourself!”
Katherine Lee, a Food Assembly customer, will also be joining the tasting with her, ‘Happy Flora Coconut Milk Kefir’. She is seeking feedback to help her launch her new product and wants to sample to as many people as possible.
The Food Assembly network continues to grow throughout the UK and in the South West. In fact, Frome Food Assembly producer Lee Morgan from Teeny Greeny Farm is about to launch his own assembly in Bradford on Avon.
Frome co-host Pia McGee urges anyone who loves good food and wants to help support local producers to come along on Wednesday. “Everyone is welcome, no orders are necessary, we would love people to come and find out along what their Food assembly is all about.” The tasting event is Wednesday March 1st, 5.30-7.30 at the Steiner School Main Hall on Park Road.
