FROME Town Council offers local groups information, advice and support and has now launched a brand new training programme.
Whether you are thinking about setting up a charity, looking to increase your fundraising platforms or in need of practical skills such as first aid to support the work or volunteering you do, there is something for everyone.
James Catlin from Local Giving recently kickstarted the programme with a well-attended and interesting session on online fundraising. The next session coming up will cover setting up an organisation; covering possible structures, legalities and the pros and cons, on Thursday 5th October, 7pm, at Frome Town Hall.
It will be followed by a course aimed at helping you get to grips with data protection ahead of the forthcoming changes in data protection law which will affect all businesses, charities and small organisations. This will be held on Thursday 12th October at Frome Town Hall.
Kate Hellard, community projects officer for the town council said, “We have developed this programme over the last two years through our ongoing work with local organisations. They have told us that these are the topics that they would find useful this year.
“We are excited to be hosting this year’s courses in the newly-refurbished Frome Town Hall which provides a great space for staff, volunteers and trustees to get together and use these courses as an opportunity to network and learn from each other, as well as from the trainers – all experts in their fields. We are always open to new ideas and suggestions, so if you can’t find the course you are looking for, please let us know.”
Frome Town Council also has a fundraising advisor whom groups can be signposted to for more detailed advice and support. If you would like to access this advice, please contact Kate Hellard or find out more information about this and the full training programme on the town council website at www.frome towncouncil.gov.uk.
