Formal ‘notice of election’ for the forthcoming District Council and Parish, Town and City Council elections has been published, today (Monday 18th March).
Voters will go to the polls to elect councillors in 34 Mendip District Council wards and there will also be 71 parish elections on Thursday 2 May 2019.
The publication of the notice means that from 19 March, completed nomination papers can be received by the Returning Officer at the Mendip District Council’s offices, the Shape Mendip Hub, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, BA4 5BT.
Nomination papers for completion by prospective candidates are available now from the council offices and can be downloaded from the Council’s website at www.mendip.gov.uk. You can also call Mendip’s Electoral Services Team on 01749 341391 or 01749 341475 and a nomination pack will be posted to you.
Stuart Brown, Mendip District Council Chief Executive and Returning Officer, said: “From Tuesday 19 March completed nomination forms for the local district and parish elections can be returned. I would urge anyone thinking of standing for election to complete their form as soon as possible and ensure it is returned to us by hand by 4pm on Wednesday 3 April.
“I would also remind anyone who has yet to register to vote that there’s still time to do so. Just go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or call Mendip’s elections team on 01749 341391 or 01749 341475.”
