THE team at a Frome opticians is getting behind a fundraising effort to help one of their customers who has cancer.
Lisa Wells, who has set up Lisa’s Army to ensure a lasting legacy for her two young daughters, has been fundraising since being diagnosed with stage four bowel and liver cancer last October. Specsavers in the Westway Centre, Frome will be holding a cake sale on Saturday 28th April, to help boost the fundraising total which currently stands at just under £70,000.
“The whole team has been touched by Lisa’s story, particularly as she is a customer of ours,” says store director, Richard Goring. “We wanted to do something to help and we have quite a few keen bakers at the store, so thought a cake sale would be a great way to do it. If you can, please do come down to support us on the day.’
To help get to the current fundraising total, Lisa’s Army has so far taken on either a 20km or 7km walk and earlier this month organised a sold-out gig at the Cheese and Grain in Frome which was headlined by Reef. Dorothy House, who have helped the family from the start, will also receive 10% of the proceeds.
