THE Ladies’ section at Orchardleigh Golf Club recently took on the challenge of team captain v team vice-captain.
This annual competition was played on Thursday 16th March over nine holes rather than the usual 18, as the recent weather of snow and rain has made the course rather heavy going. The Lady Captain Loes de Kleuver who organised this year’s competition, decided to make a change to the usual format of individual stableford points being totted up on each team, to scratch match play in pairs.
The holes won on each team were added up and this resulted in the captain’s team topping the vice-captain’s team by one win with 19 holes won to 18. Prizes were given to the first- and second-best individual scores and these went to Susan Marshall and Sheila Goodbody.
After the golf the ladies enjoyed a glass of wine while the draw was done for the club Summer Knockout competitions.
