Large-scale oil paintings by Susanna Lisle entitled ‘Patterned Land’ will be on display in the mezzanine of a restored church, now the HUBnub Centre, from 10th November – 13th January.
Susanna’s large-scale oil paintings combine form, colour and texture of her surroundings with geometric pattern and space. She has been recently inspired by Somerset gardens, including Hauser and Wirth, and the changing seasonal landscape combining them with the repeating pattern of hexagons found in daisies, grasses and seed heads.
“In each work I think of two systems being at play together; mathematical pattern and the organic patterns in nature,” explained Susanna. “I use universal geometry, the Fibonacci series and Islamic patterns which are both simple and complex; they reflect and underlie the exuberant patterns and rhythms of the natural world.”
The private view will be this Friday, 9th of November, from 6.30pm – 9pm. All welcome.
