LOCAL residents have an opportunity to shape new homes in Frome as McCarthy & Stone, the UK’s leading developer of retirement apartments, reveals proposals to transform part of the Saxonvale regeneration site into high-quality ‘Retirement Living’ accommodation, specifically designed to meet the needs of people in later life.
McCarthy & Stone will share its proposals with local residents at a public exhibition on Wednesday 16th April, between 4pm and 8pm at the Cheese & Grain (in the Gallery), Market Yard in Frome.
The proposals are for a 0.6 acre site within the wider Saxonvale regeneration area, forming part of Terramond’s existing residential proposals. McCarthy & Stone say their proposals are solely seeking to introduce specialist housing for people in later life and are not connected to Frontier Estates’ planning application.
The proposals include the site’s redevelopment to provide approximately 34 high-quality one and two bedroom ‘Retirement Living’ apartments carefully designed to complement the local area, as well as on-site car parking spaces and attractive landscaping.
Shane Paull of McCarthy & Stone said, “We have spent time carefully researching the architecture and character of the local area to ensure that what we are proposing is a sensitive fit to Frome, as well introducing a specialist form of housing which will help meet an identified, and growing, need in the area.
“We want to hear from the local community before we submit a planning application and will be displaying our plans at the exhibition. Our project team will be at the exhibition to answer questions and listen to feedback and the comments we receive will help us tailor our proposals.”
McCarthy & Stone say the company is renowned for the quality of their developments that give their homeowners the time and opportunity to do things they have always wanted to do. “The apartments allow people in later life to retain their independence, close to their family and friends, in a home suited specifically for their needs, in a safe and enjoyable environment.
“If you are not able to attend the public exhibition or would like further information, McCarthy & Stone has provided a dedicated freephone information line for you to call (0800 298 7040) and has set up a website covering their initial proposals.” The website can be found at www.mccarthyandstone-consultation.co.uk/frome
