FROME Town Council is pleased to announce that the Plastic Free. Period launch event, which was postponed from earlier this month due to Covid, has been rearranged and will now take place on Wednesday 9th March.
All the details will remain the same and the session will be held at 7pm – 8.30pm in person at the Town Hall or you can join online too.
The event focusses on alternative, sustainable period products and will be hosted by Cecilia Allon, an Environmenstrual Ambassador for Women’s Environmental Network.
Cllr Anne Hills says, “We’re pleased to be able to rearrange this so quickly and that it takes place following International Women’s Day. Finding out about alternative products and the impact to not only the environment but cost savings too, is worth exploring. We hope even more people sign up to attend, all are welcome.”
To raise awareness of alternative products Frome Town Council has created a pledge on their website. They’ve also collaborated with Wuka who make period pants to give away 5 sets, you simply need to take the pledge plus attend the event to be in with a chance of getting a free set. Once you have taken the pledge, you’ll also receive discount codes for sustainable period products to buy either locally or online.
Fair Frome have also received 50 pairs of Wuka period pants, these were purchased using funding awarded to the project from the Mendip Climate and Ecological Emergency Fund and are available now.
Further information can be found on Frome Town Council’s website, where you can also register for the free workshop and take the pledge: https://www.frometowncouncil.gov.uk/plastic-free-period
