A FROME artist has been displaying his porcelain work in Frome and Bath over Christmas, after starting his career at Black Swan Arts nearly 30 years ago.
Paul Payne, who makes lightshades and lanterns from porcelain, was recently commissioned to make lightshades for a hotel in Bath, and is showing his work at Frome’s Black Swan Arts and the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath.
Paul said, “My porcelain was started 27 years ago in a workshop at Black Swan Arts, and I am showing at the gallery’s 30th year celebrations.
“I have designed and made an alternative Christmas tree for the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath.
“I made strings of gold, silver and brass coloured coins from leftover porcelain discs. The back-lit panels on the tree celebrate the people and places of Bath.”
“I am also supplying 19 lantern wall panels and 40 porcelain lightshades to the hotel at 15 Great Pulteney Street.”
