IT has been a busy start to the year for Purple Elephant with a total of 7 Pop-Up Toy Library stay-and-play sessions in new venues in the Frome area, including Chilcompton, Coleford, RISE and at the MCA Hut on The Mount.
“Families of pre-school children joined the Purple Elephant Toy Library’s expert team to enjoy a huge selection of toys as well as offering parents and carers the chance to connect and make new friends and access early years advice from an onsite, qualified support worker,” ings, including nature themed crafts, family cookery workshops, fun gardening and special supported sessions at the Frome Boulder Rooms.
“Purple Elephant, whose aims are to support social inclusion and integration, providing support for those who are disadvantaged and who need it the most, are also the organisers of the famous annual, free-entry, open-to-all Frome Children’s Festival which will be back in big style this August. Watch this space!
“Additional services, which have kept the small but committed team busy so far in 2022, include a befriending service for 5-12 year olds plus further developments to its ‘Small Steps’ service.
“Small Steps is an Early Intervention, one-to-one service for families with pre-school children which works to help local families with parenting skills, school readiness and behavioural challenges as well as signposting and guidance for practical needs such as housing, health and financial concerns. This year Purple Elephant are especially looking to reach more families in need of support in the villages surrounding Frome.
“If you, or a family you know, would like to discuss your concerns and need for support at the Small Steps sessions, you can ask your health worker or other agency professional to refer you to Purple Elephant, or you can contact them directly by email to find more details on how to self-refer.
“Purple Elephant is a charitable organisation, relying on grant funding, donations and sponsorship and wish to thank all their grant funders, donators as well as local companies Dennis Maps and Sam Ferris Associates, their current sponsors.”
