CRITICALLY acclaimed folk duo Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman will play live at Frome’s Merlin Theatre later this month as they set off on a four-month UK tour.
Kathryn and Sean begin their tour this week for 12 weeks of shows in support of their new eight track EP, ‘Saved for a Rainy Day’.
They will play at the Merlin on Wednesday 29th March from 7.45pm.
2016 saw Kathryn and Sean voted ‘Best Duo’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for the second time, and later in the year the pair headed to India and Spain to play.
Now firmly established as one of the folk scene’s busiest and most respected duos, the husband and wife team will hit the road to preview new material that will feature on their next full album.
The couple’s intimacy and strength of passion on stage have won them many fans and an enviable reputation as ‘Songwriters par excellence’ (fRoots), whose greatly varied original songs cover such subjects as wicked mermaids, Norwegian legends, and a lonely whale.
Building upward from their last two highly praised albums ‘Hidden People’ and ‘Tomorrow Will Follow Today’, fans of quality acoustic music can catch a preview of the duo’s exciting new material on their forthcoming spring tour.
With a story that includes over 20 years of music making with the likes of Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, Levellers, Kate Rusby and Show of Hands, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman have consolidated themselves as pillars of modern British folk.
Tickets for the show at the Merlin cost £14.50 each and are available from 01373 465949 or www.merlintheatre.co.uk. Listen to the duo’s music online at www.kathrynrobertsandseanlakeman.com
