Frome Festival brochures are now available for this year’s event, which includes a record-breaking 280 events across the town.
Headline acts include the Ronnie Scott’s house band, Guy Chambers, Miki Berenyi Trio (formerly of Lush), Tom Moth (harpist with Florence + The Machine), Gary Stringer (Reef), Rokia Koné, Hackney Colliery Band and more.
Comedy highlights include Lou Sanders, Andy Zaltzman, the ever-popular Pop-Up Comedy and Amy Webber. The Bob Morris Lecture will be presented by TV historian Professor Kate Williams.
Frome Festival manager Sarah Swales said, “There is a varied programme to suit all ages, including some free children’s events funded by Frome Town Council, notably The Elves and the Shoemaker and Bin Rat, plus Teabreak, which is aimed at the whole family.
“This year sees many new venues and event organisers taking part for the first time, including Five Yard presents Alan Power and the Take Twos; music, wine and food events from Rye Bakery and Saddle Goose Winery on Station Approach; a DJ night and ‘Karenoke’ (comedy karaoke with a Karen) at The Tunnels; and the Brodsky Quartet in Chantry Church.
“Old favourites such as Hidden Gardens, the Frome Open Art Trail and the Food Feast will return, the latter featuring live music from Nothing Rhymes With Orange, Buffalo Gals and Kaleida Wild.
“This year’s festival theme is Frome’s rich heritage in the textile industry, which is reflected in the cover artwork designed by Sholto Walker and in many events and activities taking place.”
The Frome Festival brochure, which lists all events, is available free from the Cheese and Grain, Black Swan Arts, Frome Town Hall, Hunting Raven Books, La Strada, Frome Library and other outlets in and around Frome.
Priority tickets for Friends of Frome Festival will be available from 9am on Friday 16th May at the Cheese and Grain box office and online – a new option this year. General booking opens at 10am on Sunday 18th May.
Friends of Frome Festival scheme relaunched
The Friends of Frome Festival scheme has been relaunched with support from Frome Town Council, which has funded improved membership software to help expand the offer.
Sarah added, “With membership cards now stored on phones, Friends of Frome Festival can enjoy discounts and perks at local businesses. Raves From The Grave record shop and Hunting Raven Books are offering 10% discounts to card holders, with additional offers available from Flow Bar, Still Life Gin and Melanie Giles in Frome.”
As a registered charity, Frome Festival needs to raise £35,000 each year to deliver the programme. The Friends of Frome Festival scheme plays a major role in reaching that goal. Membership starts from £20 per year and can be purchased at: https://fromefestival.co.uk/friends/
