THE Royal British Legion (RBL) branch have announced the schedule for the upcoming Remembrance Day parade, taking place on Sunday 14th November at 10:45, with a two-minute silence at 11:00.
“The nation comes together to remember the fallen and injured of all conflicts, and all affected by war,” says the Frome Branch of the RBL.
“After last year’s Virtual Remembrance, it is with gladness that the Frome Town Council along with the Frome Branch of the Royal British Legion have joined forces to ensure Remembrance Sunday is observed in person this year. The Parade and Act of Remembrance will take place in Frome on Sunday, 14th November 2021, at the War Memorial by the Frome Memorial Theatre, with a two-minute silence observed at 11:00. Wreaths of many veterans, youth groups and organizations will be laid, led by the RBL and the Mayor, and a service will follow.
“The service will give the opportunity for the town to recognize the sacrifice of many, both in the armed forces and civilians, who have suffered, or continue to suffer as a result of conflict. Words will be spoken, and music played that will provide the opportunity for personal reflection.
“A parade will form up and march off from the Drill Hall in Keyford at 10:45. For those wishing to march, please be in place by 10:15 prompt, to receive instruction. The short march will arrive at the Frome Memorial Theatre garden at 10:55 when the act of remembrance will begin.
“Frome Town Band will be accompanying the service at the memorial, when the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph will be read, as it will be across the whole nation. After the official wreath laying and service members of the public will be invited to lay their own wreaths or poppies before the service concludes at about 11:20hrs.
“Whatever the weather a warm welcome is extended to everyone after the service for refreshments in the Assembly Rooms behind the Memorial Theatre. There will not be a service in the evening, although individuals and churches may be making their own arrangements.”
