A new online map has been launched by Somerset County Council to allow people to easily report potholes and other issues on the county’s roads.
‘Report It’ allows users to report any highways issues across all 4,206 miles of Somerset’s highways – from potholes and blocked drains to overgrown hedges or traffic light faults.
You can find the new interactive map by visiting www.travelsomerset.co.uk and clicking ‘Drive’ and then ‘Report road problems’.
Simply log the issue by location on the map and then fill in the details of the problem using an online form. If you’re reporting a pothole, you can also leave an email address to receive updates on the repair process.
Councillor David Fothergill, Somerset County Council’s cabinet member for highways said, “We routinely carry out inspections of our roads to check for any problems but, with one of the largest road networks in the country, we also rely on people to help us keep an eye on things.
“The new Report It map is a much improved and simpler way for members of the public to flag up areas that need attention. Please do let us know so we can inspect the problem and take action if necessary. ”
When you report a road defect Somerset County Council will inspect it within three working days and programme repair work where required.
Report It continues to be improved and will work alongside www.travelsomerset.co.uk a new mobile-friendly website which offers live updates of traffic and travel incidents. It also features a searchable map providing details of current and future planned roadworks and road closures.
