WEDNESDAY nights at the Grain Bar Cafe at the Cheese & Grain has free live music on offer with the best ‘rootsy’ music in town at its weekly Roots Sessions.
Next Wednesday, October 3rd, Swampgrass take to the stage with Henry Wacey as support. Swampgrass play the mighty blues – it’s the dancing, drinking, up all night partying blues. Sure there’s a slow song occasionally (no promises), but generally the show starts at pace and stays there.
Henry Wacey is a folk rock musician from Frome. He has shared the stage with the likes of Mad Dog Mcrea, Beans on Toast, Funke and the Two Tone Baby, Nick Heyward and many more.
On Wednesday 17th October, Rag Mama Rag – who are Ashley and Deborah Dow – will play a variety of American music from the 1920s, 30s and 40s, encompassing different styles of country, blues, ragtime blues, Mississippi bluesy and original compositions. They use a range of guitars: acoustic guitar, Hawaiian guitar, resonator guitar, ukulele, plus different types of percussion and harmonicas.
Music starts at 8.45pm and entry is free. For more information and to reserve tickets, visit: www.cheese andgrain.com/tickets
