Long after the musicians stopped playing, tents have been abandoned and the clear-up has been completed, the Pilton Festival Run 10k allows athletes to run around the famous Glastonbury Festival site.
Several Frome Running Club members took on this off-road challenge, with Pete Larman (MV40) leading the charge to finish in 40:02 and sixth place overall, followed by Giles Padfield (MV40) 44:02, Joel Sudworth (MV40) 46:38, Richard Corp (MV40) 47:09, Steve Ratcliffe (MV40) 51:04 and Emma Flexon (FV40) 1:10:38; while in the Festival 5k race, Jill Smart (FV50) crossed the line in 38:15.
Over the border in Wiltshire, at the Westbury Lions 10k, Paul Ryman (SM) earned some bling for his mantelpiece, winning the race with 34:41; while Ted Sprules (MV60) was first MV60 and fifth place overall with 40:25, and in seventh place overall and second MV50 was Dave Williams (MV50) 41:29.
Further south in Dorset, some hardy Frome runners took on the Purbeck Marathon, 26.2 miles (plus a bit extra for luck) of tough, hilly, yet beautiful running. along the ups and downs of the Jurassic Coast.
Giles Padfield (MV40) was first home for Frome in 4:57:40, while Steve Carroll (MV50) and Richard Corp (MV40) both crossed the line in 5:29:30. In the Purbeck 16, a shorter yet just as hilly 16-mile race, Jo Kirk (SF) finished in 2.41.46.
At the Clarendon Marathon, an off-road event that sees runners hitting the trail from Salisbury to Winchester, Steve Carroll (MV50) and Richard Corp (MV40) both finished in 5:01:03.
Meanwhile, at the Gold Hill 10k in Dorset, Chris Steele (MV50) finished in 54:27.
