THE Rural Network Project’s next academy session, will see Somerset resident. Dom Monks, dropping by to give a masterclass on ‘Recording and Record Making’.
Beginning his career at the Real World Studios in Box as an assistant to Peter Gabriel’s engineer Richard Chappel, Dom then went on to engineer for the commercial arm of the studios. This led to him working with renowned producer Ethan Johns, as well as engineering independently and producing on both sides of the Atlantic.
Dom has worked for the likes of The Vaccines, Tom Jones, Paul McCartney and Paulo Nutini, to name a few.
Dom will be sharing his experiences as a recording engineer, producer and mixer, along with a discussion on how he started out in the industry and his philosophy on recording. The session will finish with Dom answering questions from those attending.
The academy session will take place at the Bert Jansch Studio, Cheese and Grain, on Monday 24th June at 6.30pm. For more details, contact James Brookes on Facebook at JamesBrookes@young somerset.org.uk or by email at PaddyHiggins@young somerset.org.uk.
