FRONTIER Estates has submitted a planning application for its development on the Saxonvale site.
Members of the public will soon be able to make representations to Mendip District Council on the application for a supermarket, new shops, and public square.
The application is yet to go live on the council’s website, but developer Frontier Estates says it has made changes following the consultation, which includes:
• A new service road to reduce the amount of traffic on Vicarage Street;
• Realignment of proposed new shops to create a more seamless link to the existing shops in the Kingsway Centre and M&S;
• The main public square is now larger, creating an improved social and civic space.
Damian Wood of Frontier Estates commented, “The level of resident involvement during the consultation was great and we received a huge amount of valuable feedback.
“The team has come up with some significant changes to the scheme to respond to the key issues raised, including a new service access road which will reduce significantly the amount of traffic on Vicarage Street.
“We would like to thank everyone who took the time to take part in the consultation.”
