FROME’S International Climates Film Festival took place on Saturday 13th May, showcasing 45 inspiring and life-changing films from Frome, the UK and overseas about responses to the climate crisis. Films were shown under six categories, with winners crowned and celebrated in each.
The festival, which also involved an art installation and workshops, took place at the George Hotel and Granary in the town centre. A winners’ showcase took place in Bath at The Little Theatre the following week, on Saturday 20th May.
Creator and director of the festival, James Godman said, “It was a fantastic second Climate Film Festival in Frome. We sold 100 tickets, we held five fabulous workshops, screened 45 films from six countries, up from 18 last year, plus we showed the showcase film ‘Finite’ by Rich Feldgate. This was followed by the Climate Showcase in Bath on the 20th May, providing the award-winning directors with an opportunity to see their films on the big screen in the Little Theatre Cinema and to also see Race for the Future by James M Levelles, all served up with Prosecco and nibbles.
“We will now take time to reflect and to then build a programme of events and work supporting local and national events including the Children’s Festival, Green Week and then getting on the road to share the films to inspire green change across the UK and overseas. Thanks to all involved you are inspiring.”
