A FROME writer has won second place in a prestigious poetry competition for her entry ‘The Lovers Exchange.’
Rosie Jackson entered the competition as part of the Havant Literary Festival and the theme was ‘renewal.’ Rose’s entry was a dark poem which earned her second place and a prize of £200.
Rose is known locally for running creative writing workshops in Frome and is due to start new classes. Rose said, “Some are for Frome Community Education and some are private. The memoir classes are for anyone, no matter what’s happened in their lives, big or small -everyone has a story to tell. I’m completing my own memoir at the moment, and it’s an interesting and rewarding process.
“The short story classes are also for anyone wanting to try their hand at getting a story into print in a magazine or entering a competition.”
Rose has taught at the University of East Anglia and led popular writing workshops for 30 years. She has also had four books published as well as many stories and poems. To find out more visit www.rosiejackson.org.uk
