TWO Frome seven-year-olds from Avanti Park School, Emmeya and Murphy, have raised £700 for Frome-based children’s counselling service, We Hear You, by climbing Snowdon (Welsh name Yr Wyddfa).
Half-way up, they were cheered on by a team of fire-fighters, and they enjoyed a final climb through thick cloud to the summit.
Emmeya said, “I thought I would never get to the top! In two minutes, I groaned ‘I’m hungry!’”
Murphy said, “The bottom of the mountain wasn’t very fun, but the rest was great.”
They were touched and excited by the generosity of everyone who sponsored them, and very proud to have made it to the top of what is the highest peak in Britain outside of Scotland at 1,085 metres (£3,560 ft).
