RESIDENTS of Frome and users of social media are being asked to express their experiences of the pandemic through art, to contribute to an exhibition later this year.
‘Portrayal of a Pandemic’ was the brainchild of Di Roberts, local support service Active and In Touch’s co-ordinator.
Active and In Touch says, “Since March 2020 individuals, families and the community have experienced a whole range of emotions and encountered challenges including grief, fear and greater loneliness resulting from restrictions and a concern as to what the future will bring.
“There have also been so many uplifting times with heart touching experiences, rays of sunshine, the kindness of strangers and the beauty of nature.
“Active and In Touch is asking for people to share these experiences and the feelings they evoked with others, as a lasting testimony and an affirmation of better times ahead. Being creative has been a support for many people already and hopefully more will be inspired to unlock their creativity and send their work to the exhibition where all art forms will be welcomed.
“The list is endless – paintings, mixed media, photography, textiles, sculpture and poetry and Active and In Touch looks forward to receiving submissions by Friday 4th June. The exhibition will be in September at various locations in Frome including The Black Swan Arts and Town Hall. Submissions will be divided into three age categories: under 12s, under 18s and adults.
“Longer term, there is the opportunity to sell your artwork if you wish and 12 pieces will also be selected for publication in Active and In Touch’s 2022 calendar.
“So, please unleash your innermost artistic thoughts and support Portrayal of the Pandemic. Further details can be found via www.activeandintouch.org
“Good luck with your entries and we are looking forward to an exciting exhibition later in the year.”
