The Cheese and Grain recently played host to five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Bradley Wiggins for an unforgettable evening of insight, inspiration and cycling stories.
The event, on Thursday 29th May, gave attendees the chance to meet the Olympic legend in person before watching a live on-stage interview with presenter Jon Monie.
During the interview, Sir Bradley shared personal reflections on his road to success, including the highs and lows of life before and after becoming one of the most decorated Olympians in British history.
“A live memorabilia auction took place, with one of the items fetching £2,000!” said organisers. “The famed ‘101 Book’ – The Bradley Wiggins Opus – a leather-bound, official record of his historic 2012 Tour de France win, was among the highlights.”
After a short break, Sir Bradley returned to the stage to answer questions from the audience.
Sir Bradley once held the record for the UK’s most decorated Olympian with eight medals and remains the only person to have won an Olympic gold medal and the Tour de France in the same year.
He was awarded an OBE in 2005, followed by a CBE in 2009, and was crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2012. His bestselling autobiography My Time was shortlisted for the British Sports Book Award for Best Autobiography.
The event was produced by local organisers GM3 Events and Hit Or Miss, with support from independent retailer Pronto Bikes.
