NOW firmly established as a very successful and popular free event, Frome Writers’ Collective’s (FWC) fourth annual Small Publishers’ Fair takes place this Saturday, July 6th, complementing the already strong literary content of the Frome Festival programme.
Organisers say, “The fair will be opened at 10.00am by FWC patron Barry Cunningham OBE. Barry is always a popular speaker and his Frome-based Chicken House Books is a hugely respected publisher of children’s books which, together with the Times newspaper, runs the prestigious ‘Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition’.
“Once again, all stands for the fair were sold out weeks ahead, bringing together a variety of exhibitors. The day will offer a wide range of services and support to fledgling writers, including an information stall, and a wonderful selection of books for readers. Frome’s own Hunting Raven Books’ stall will be joined by over 20 others, run by authors and book illustrators, as well as independent and specialist publishers, who will have publications from their catalogue on sale.
“Prominent among the stands will be those of Frome Writers’ Collective, and their book brand, Silver Crow Books. Silver Crow, formed to provide FWC members with a stepping stone on the journey to getting published, offers authors a mixture of guidance, a cost-effective manuscript assessment service, links to publishing partners, and joint marketing opportunities. It is believed to be unique in its offer of a friendly alternative to either traditional or DIY publishing, and has already helped 10 FWC members have their books professionally published.”
FWC’s Debs Dowling said, “We are delighted to be hosting the Small Publishers Fair once again, as part of the Frome Festival programme of events. As before, it’s free and will be running from 10.00am to 4.00pm at the wonderful Silk Mill Gallery. It’s always a fabulous day with a great atmosphere and we’re all looking forward to meeting lots of readers and writers.”
