Frome is proud to boast a vibrant community of independent businesses. But for small-scale enterprises, reaching customers and expanding your customer base can be tough.
The next Discuss and Do event on Tuesday 24th May will see local businesses come together to discuss how to meet these challenges and make the most of social media.
Some Frome businesses are already embracing the benefits of managing their own online presence. Retailer Anthony Hick of Assembly in Catherine Hill has been growing his business and increasing sales through various channels including Instagram.
“Social media may seem daunting but once you get into it it’s quite easy,” he says. “A couple of minutes on Instagram can turn into a sale.”
Anthony will be explaining his experiences with using social media to promote his business. While some business owners like Anthony may feel confident or have the time to produce their own social media, others may decide to employ the services of a social media and marketing professional.
A number of these work locally and Nicola Cretney of Frome-based company Maia Creative will be providing an insight into managed social media marketing and its benefits.
Mark Brookes, town centre coordinator for Frome Town Council says, “A strong social media presence can undoubtedly improve trade. However, using social media for business isn’t just about putting out loads of posts, it’s about creating imagery, impact and effective messages. We hope that this event will help people make the most of this small but key part of the marketing mix.”
The event is part of the new series of Discuss & Do free events coordinated by Frome Town Council and Frome and District Chamber of Commerce.
Any business based in the Frome area is welcome to come along to the Cornerhouse at 6pm on Tuesday 24th May to share ideas, learn from others and be part of the discussion.
