A host of big names and exciting events have been lined up for this year’s Frome Festival.
The festival, which runs for ten days from Friday 3rd July until Sunday 12th, promises something for everyone with top musical performances, literary talks, stand-up comedy, live theatre, and more.
Main events that have been confirmed already include the opera Cosi Fan Tutte to be performed at Cooper Hall, and shows by internationally renowned bands The Stereo MCs and The Hoosiers at the Cheese and Grain.
Frome Writer’s Collective will be hosting the event ‘The Festival Book: An Accidental Pilgrimage to Tibet’ with Ivan Cooper at the library.
Additionally, The Festival Green Room hosted by Frome FM will be hosting top acts every night at The Granary from 9.30pm until late. Booked acts include: Geniology jazz, Dutch folk band Snowapple (returning after their sell-out 2014 festival gig), The Frukes (Frome Ukuleles), The F.B. Pocket Orchestra (jazz, blues, ragtime & popular dances of the 1920/30s & earlier), Leonardo’s Bicycle, Foreign Affair, Elise Yuill, and Clayton Blizzard.
The festival programme also includes an expanded World Food Feast on Saturday 4th July with an exciting mix of world food stalls, as well as annual favourites such as Hidden Gardens and Open Studios.
Frome Festival’s creative director Martin Dimery said, “This has been one of the most difficult Frome Festivals we’ve programmed, but we’re delighted to be able to reveal some of the acts now signed up.
“There are so many people putting on events, and trying to ensure they all get good slots that don’t clash is never easy. I’ve been in negotiation with so many different bands and performers, so it’s a great relief to be able to announce such a good line -up, much of which came together at the last minute.
“It would be interesting to know some of the acts we nearly signed – but we’ll keep them in mind for another year. I think we can look forward to another ten days of great events in July.”
Frome Festival, now in its 16th year, is considered one of the top small town festivals in the country, drawing large crowds from Frome and further afield.
