A special concert offering a rare musical treat will be held at the Cheese & Grain this Saturday, 7th May, in support of the Mayday Saxonvale campaign.
The campaign is raising funds for a judicial review of the appointment of Acorn Properties by Mendip District Council to develop the Saxonvale site. The aim of the campaign is to require the district council to re-tender in a fair, open and transparent manner.
Organisers say, “Curated by Robert Plant collaborator and Frome resident Dave Smith, this stellar array of contemporary musicians are prominent figures on the UK electronic, jazz, rock and world music scenes.
“The first half will feature guitarist Justin Adams (Robert Plant/Sinéad O’Connor), Alex Bonney (The Last Poets/Brian Irvine) on trumpet and electronics and drummer Dave Smith (Fofoulah/Robert Plant).
“In the second half Smith will be joined by guitarist Dave Okumu (The Invisible/Jesse Ware), Mark Lockheart (Kenny Wheeler/Polar Bear) on tenor saxophone and bassist Tom Herbert, (the Invisable/Polar Bear).”
Doors open 8.30pm for a 9pm start. Tickets in advance £12 from the Cheese & Grain box office.
