Batcombe Film Society’s season of nine films begins with this year’s Oscar winner for ‘Best Picture.’
‘Spotlight’ will be shown at the Jubilee Hall on Friday 16th September at 7.45pm.
The film is a tense, dramatic thriller tracing the true story of the Boston Globe investigation in 2002 into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church.
When the newspaper’s tenacious ‘Spotlight’ team of reporters led by Walter ‘Robby’ Robinson (Michael Keaton) delve into the allegations, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston’s religious, legal and government establishments.
The film club costs £20 for the year’s membership or £5 for a single ticket.
There is a licensed bar, free parking, tea and coffee, and disabled access.
Other films coming up this season include ‘Mustang’, ‘Carol’, ‘Tangerines’ and ‘Sing Street.’
