A GROUP of film students from Portsmouth will be filming their final project in Frome this month and are asking for local people’s help.
Visio Productions will make their final project ‘No Dogs’ in the town from 7th to 11th March and are looking for local people to be extras and to help with props, costumes and catering.
The 10-15 minute film follows an Irishman, Jamaican woman and stray dog search for somewhere they belong. It is set in the 1950s, explores themes of racism and discrimination, and will be filmed on Gentle St John’s Church, the Steiner Academy and in Mells.
Cameraman Connor Meade told Frome Times, “We’d like to involve Frome people and make use of what the local community has to offer, and we’re hoping for the film to be shown at the Frome Festival in the summer.
“We have already been in contact with actors and actresses from the Frome drama club who are keen to be extras, which is exciting!
“Unfortunately as we are students on a budget it will be unpaid work, but anyone that helps will be credited at the end of the film. Also if any local businesses would like to help out they would also be credited with their name/logo at the end of the film, and be thanked on social media. The film will also be shown around the world at different film festivals.”
