The organisers are pleased to announce that The Submarine Comedy Club is back with a comedy bang on Thursday 15th May, Live at the Naval Room, the Archangel, Frome with its most ambitiously funny line up to date.
Doors open 8.00pm, start time 8.30pm. The full line up is as follows: Andrew Bird (headliner) Laura Lexx (opening act) Mark Hurman, Jack Brown, Adrienne Coles and Tim O’Connor (MC) – www.archangelfrome.com.
Headliner – Andrew Bird: A genuine comedy star in the making. Andrew simply oozes comedy magic. Supporting acts such as Rhod Gilbert and Leed Hurst on tours. Andrew Bird is one of those rare comedians who makes friends with his audiences in an instant with his engaging mix of childhood stories and more recent anecdotes. A relaxed and improvisatory style wins over the hardest heart.
‘Effortlessly engaging and funny as hell’ (Rhod Gilbert).
The Submarine Comedy Club are very excited about Andrew’s appearance. Catch him before he’s headlining much bigger venues. www.andrewbird comedian.com – www.com edycv.co.uk/andrewbird
Opening act Laura Lexx: Taunton lass, Laura has a quirky, Somerset spin on the world and is happy to relax with the audience and take any subject from a frank discussion from her struggles with IBS to the televisual preferences of sleeping bags, the aging process of socks and all things West Country. Paramount Funniest Student Runner Up 2009 and Chortle Student Comedy Awards Finalist 2009, Laura Lexx is a uniquely gleeful performer who is a chirpy addition to any line up and another act the club are extremely pleased to have visiting – www.com edycv.co.uk/lauralexx/ index.html
Mark Hurman: Marks humour is wry, observational, occasionally cross (with an optional garnish of political dressing) and will sometimes include literary references. He is degree educated yet remains remarkably foolish and worries a lot. Straight out of Weston Super Mare – www.com edycv.co.uk/markhurman/ index.html
Adrienne Coles: Adrienne is a female comic, based in Bournemouth, and has a wide variety of original material. Adrienne’s original observational material is full of clever word play, strong characterisation and even impressions. Her apparent innocence is soon betrayed by an obvious wicked streak. A refreshing cheekiness, anecdotal comedy.
Adrienne has made a rapid progression on the comedy scene as a relative newcomer. She will be appearing on the bill in 2014 alongside: Jarred Christmas, Katherine Ryan and Tim Vine.
“Warm, witty and original, Adrienne Coles always sees the funny side of life” Ben Elton – www.comedycv.co.uk/adriennecoles/index.html
Jack Brown: Jack Brown is another up and coming South west stand up comedian from Devizes who has been forging a career off to a flying start in 2011 by winning in his first ever competition.
“Young, naturally gifted and with much confidence, Jack Brown shows the potential to follow in the footsteps of previous West Country based comics Russell Howard and Jon Richardson if he can reproduce their work ethic and continue to write good material. One to watch without doubt.” – Geoff Whiting
He has also been involved in music videos for various artists including Duran Duran and Katherine Jenkins – www.jackbrowncomedian .co.uk http://www.comedy cv.co.uk/jackbrown/index html
All this and regular MC – Tim O’Connor: Local Frome comedian Tim O’Connor attempts to hold all the mayhem together and keeps the comedy love going whilst reviewing all things Frome.
