FROME-based charity We Hear You (WHY) were surprised this month by radio station Heart FM West Country with a cheque for £76,100.
The money was raised by listeners across Global’s radio brands, including Heart FM, as part of their Global’s Make Some Noise campaign.
Gemma Wilkes, fundraising and communications manager at WHY said, “We cannot thank Heart FM West Country and its listeners enough for their incredible support. As a beneficiary of Global’s Make Some Noise, we were hoping for a grant of £37,800 but when they surprised us with a cheque for £76,100, we were totally overwhelmed.
“The extra funds will allow us to double the amount of weekly ‘Talk It Over’ counselling sessions over the next two years, providing new services in new areas. This will make a huge difference to the number of children and young people we can look after.”
Heart FM West Country managing editor, Paul Andrew said, “Global’s Make Some Noise plays such an important role in raising awareness of small charities like We Hear You. The kindness of listeners means that Global’s Make Some Noise can more than double its donation, which will help We Hear You care for more children that have been affected by serious illnesses.”
WHY were presented with the cheque by Heart FM West Country presenters Ed, Troy and Paulina.
