TEENAGE motocross talent, Izzy Neale from Frome, recently competed in the International Motorbike Association (IMBA) Ladies’ Championship, finishing as the highest placed GB rider.
Izzy, a Frome College student, finished in 12th place, in a field of 26 riders who were battling it out at the IMBA second round in Belgium.
Izzy said, “I managed to qualify 14th, and then in the first race I managed to get up to 11th, then back to 12th in race 2 and 13th in race three – but I finished first out of the Team GB riders each time.
“The intense heat made the track really rough and dry throughout the day, which made the 18-minute races even more tiring. The other riders were very fast and some of them had world championship titles to their name, so it made the competition even more competitive.
“I’d like to say a huge well done to all my teammates who rode amazing all weekend, and a huge thanks to my MX coach, Rikki Priest, who has got me to where I am. Thanks also to Smiths Engine Services, Kenny BRP imports and Xrutted Media for all their support.
“My next big upcoming race is the IMBA round in France at the end of the month, where I’ll be riding for Team GB again.”
