A FROME teenager has won a Pride of Somerset Youth Award for his work in the community.
14-year-old Brandon, who has been in foster care with his brother Josh for nearly eight years and now fostered by Dave and Paula Cowler, attended an awards ceremony on Friday 10th May to receive his award.
Brandon said, “I was really pleased to win my Pride of Somerset Youth Award, I have come a long way since I came to live with Dave and Paula seven years ago.
“I attend Frome Army Cadets and feel I am doing well. I also volunteer in the community cutting grass in a local children’s play area and support other children in care, being a member of the Somerset in Care Council.”
Brandon plays the bugle in band parades and also regularly helps to prepare and serve lunches at his school.
The awards have been organised by BBC Somerset, the Rotary Club of Taunton, Bridgwater & Taunton College and the Somerset County Gazette series of newspapers.
