Local charity Fair Housing for Frome is about to launch a survey to find out in detail about housing needs and aspirations in the town.
Staff and volunteers from Fair Housing will be meeting the public on Tuesday 26th February outside Asda, and on Saturday 2nd March at Frome Library.
Bex Lockwood, a project worker with Fair Housing said, “We’ll be asking people to let us know about their housing situation – How happy or worried are you about your housing? How much of your income goes into your housing costs? How secure do you feel? Are you or members of your family sofa-surfing, needing more space, or perhaps looking to downsize? If you are a tenant or lodger, how easy or difficult have you found the experience? If you are a home-owner, have you thought about taking in a lodger?”
The organisation is hoping to use the results of the survey to build a picture of the key housing issues and challenges facing residents, and to find out what more can be done to tackle the housing crisis in the town. Bex says the survey really only works if lots of people complete it, adding, “So if you see some friendly people wearing Fair Housing for Frome badges and waving bits of paper, why not stop for a couple of minutes to complete the short survey and, if the fancy takes you, have a chat?”
