THOUSANDS turned out for the 138th annual Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show earlier this month, and even unexpected heavy rain couldn’t dampen spirits on the day.
Crowds from Frome and further afield enjoyed the variety of displays, exhibitions and competitions in the one-day event. A wet start kept the marquees busy in the morning, until the sun broke out and the afternoon was business as usual.
Final visitor numbers have yet to be calculated but early indications are that they were scarcely affected by the weather.
Show chairman Martyn Brake said, “I think we can count Frome Show 2015 as another major success. The rain was disappointing, especially as it wasn’t forecast, but the afternoon was tremendous and far many more people than usual were still on the showground as the show ended.
“We’re all taking a deep breath now and then we’ll start again on Frome Show 2016 – it’s on Saturday, September 10th, make a note in your diary!”
The 2015 show saw all the regular livestock, cheese and arts & crafts competitions, as well as stalls selling local produce.
There were also demonstrations from celebrity chef Paul Rankin, Bolddog Lings motorcycle stunt team, and the Joseph Pearce Fire Stunt Spectacular.
