Train enthusiasts of all ages gathered at the first-ever Trains Connects social group in Frome last week, and organisers say the response was far bigger than expected.
The informal meet-up at the Cheese and Grain Cafe brought together 26 people interested in everything from heritage railways and train travel to spotting, modelling and railway history.
Jenny, who started the group, said, “There was such a lovely atmosphere in the room. What struck me most was how many conversations were happening between people who had never met before. Train enthusiasm creates connection, purpose and belonging for so many people.”
The monthly socials are open to everyone, including complete newcomers.
Due to the high turnout, the next Trains Connect social will now move into the Cheese and Grain’s main hall to allow more space for people to attend comfortably.
The next session will take place on Friday 12th June from 10.30am to 12pm.
No booking is required; people can simply turn up for a tea or coffee and join the conversation. To find out future dates, visit www.weareconnectors.org.
