Frome 1st XI beat Warminster 1st XI by 30 runs Frome 1st XI: 242-9 (45 overs) Warminster 1st XI: 212 all out (41.3 overs)
FROME 1st XI took on Warminster 1st XI in their final pre-season friendly before they play their first season in Premier 2 following their 2019 double winning year.
For the second week running Frome won the toss and batted on a glorious looking Warminster pitch.
Frome got off to a slow start, losing both openers with the score only 28 after some excellent bowling from Cullinan and Loud. The partnership of Ross Jenkins (33) and Reece Croker (51) built momentum in Frome’s innings with a quick fire partnership of 66. However both men fell to long hops off the bowling of Small to leave Frome in a bit of trouble on 104-4.
The hosts continued to build pressure on the Frome batsman, however it was Charlie Smith who ended the innings strongly and finished on an excellent 67 not out to take Frome to a challenging 242-9 off their 45 overs.
Reece Croker (4-50) and Tom Barton (2-31) started the innings off superbly for Frome, reducing the hosts to 29-3. This brought Shroeder to the crease who looked well organised early on and looked to build some partnerships in their pursuit of Frome’s total. Warminster got themselves back into the game following a 77 run partnership between Shroeder and Cullinan before the Harman got the important breakthrough, however the excellent Shroeder was still at the crease.
Frome then continued to pick off wickets at key stages in the backend of the Warminster innings and eventually Shroeder was dismissed by Croker for a superb 96 with the hosts 30 runs short of Fromes first innings total.
Frome will be very happy with the tests they’ve had in pre-season and even more happy that they have come away with two wins as they look to carry they’re form into the start of the new season next week.
Next fixture: Saturday 1st May, North Perrott (away), 12.30pm Start
