WANT to volunteer but feel like your options are limited due to lockdown?
Somerset County Council’s Digital Customer Volunteers initiative provides an opportunity for volunteers to help the council provide better services, without having to leave home.
The council report, “Volunteers have played a crucial part in providing support to Somerset’s communities over the past year and helping each other is more important than ever.
“Those who sign up to become digital customer volunteers will help Somerset County Council to develop better online services and improve the lives of Somerset residents.”
Councillor Christine Lawrence, Somerset County Council cabinet member for customers and communities, said: “Digital customer volunteers will be at the centre of helping the council to shape, design and create online services to meet the needs of our customers.
“Digital platforms play a vital role in the delivery of our services and we want to ensure our websites are easy to use for all of our customers.”
The council add, “The digital customer volunteers will support the design and testing of new online services, review websites and other digital solutions, as well as helping communities to use new online services. You do not have to be an expert with technology to volunteer for this role. All abilities are welcome.
“Anyone interested in taking up this opportunity to shape Somerset and help the council to build for the future is asked to get in touch with the volunteering team through email volunteer@somerset.gov.uk or visit the website volunteering.somerset.gov.uk
