Volunteers in Frome are organising free events on Christmas Day for anyone who would like some company as part of the Frome Christmas Get-Together.
There are three different venues across town that will be holding the events: St Catharine’s Parish Hall on Park Road, Frome Cricket Club and The Frome Key Centre with events starting from 11.30am.
All guests will receive a warm welcome, conversation, entertainment and refreshments, as well as a festive meal and gifts.
This year there will be a sit-down meal at the Cricket Club and at the other two venues there will be informal refreshments, a festive meal and gifts to take home. Some guests may like to enjoy conversation and entertainment and then take food home with them, and others may prefer to sit down and eat in a warm atmosphere.
“The freshly prepared sit-down meal and take-home Christmas lunch will both be of exceptional quality with all the trimmings and include dessert options,” explained Di, one of the organisers.
“Home deliveries of meals and gifts will remain an option for anyone unable to attend in person, as there will be a team of volunteer drivers to hand-deliver these festive treats.”
Since 2011, volunteers in Frome have come together with local businesses and community groups to organise this special festive event on Christmas Day. “All the events are open to anyone who would like company, there are no complicated criteria or judgements,” says Di.
The events are funded solely through donations from the local community. Di said, “This year’s partner organisation is Fair Frome, so please look out for joint bucket collectors at the town’s festive events such as the Christmas Lights Switch-On and The Frome Independent December market.”
Anyone who would like to come on Christmas Day should book their space in advance by filling out a guest form available at Frome Library at the end of the month or telephoning Margaret on 01373 465418.
There will be a team of volunteers at each venue and people are still needed for a variety of roles, including the bucket collections. Please email fromechristmas@gmail.com for more information or visit www.bigchristmasgettogether.org.

![Town-wide programme brings month of social activities in May
A month-long programme of activities and events is set to take place across the town in May as part of an initiative encouraging residents to connect with themselves, each other and local places.
The scheme, Frome Connects, will run throughout the month and includes a mix of social activities, creative events and informal meet-ups in community spaces.
Highlights include the return of Dress Up Fridays, which began during lockdown and invites people to wear formal clothing or fancy dress and turn the town into their catwalk each Friday.
Set-piece moments include a Kate Bush-themed flashmob (Running Up That [Catherine] Hill) on 30th May, followed by a bell peal at St John’s Church where the bells will play Running Up That Hill.
There will also be a whole-town drone photo on Friday 30th May, with everyone encouraged to ‘look up’ at around 12.30pm.
