FROME-based charity We Hear You (WHY) is holding a masquerade ball on Friday 29th September from 7.00pm till late at The Walled Garden, Orchardleigh Estate.
This is the third ball the charity has hosted, with last year’s ball raising £5,600, funding more than 127 counselling sessions.
Fundraising and communications manager at WHY, Gemma Wilkes says, “Join us for an evening of amazing food, quality entertainment and dancing. The evening starts with a drinks reception in the beautiful surroundings of The Walled Garden.
“Our sponsors at the Orchardleigh Estate and Marston Foods are providing a delicious five-course meal, there’s music from The Frukes and a DJ. We have a charity auction, with prizes including a stunning Mulberry handbag and a raffle, with some fantastic prizes.
“We’re also running our very popular ‘fun casino’ again this year; an expert croupier will guide guests through games of blackjack and roulette and the person with the most chips at the end of the night wins a prize – all the fun of Las Vegas without risking your savings!
“At £60 a ticket, guests have an evening of glitz, glamour and fun, while helping us provide our vital service to communities across Somerset, BaNES and Wiltshire.
“Masks are strictly optional, although local face painting legends Painted People will be on hand to make you look stunning if you haven’t found your perfect mask beforehand. For the sugar lovers among you, there will be an opportunity to wallow in nostalgia at our pick ‘n’ mix stand!’
“Several local businesses have already sponsored tables at the ball or offered auction and raffle prizes. This event is a brilliant way to raise your business’ profile, network with other local firms and make a real difference to your community.
“Life-threatening illness can strike anyone, anywhere, any time, and our counselling is a lifeline to people dealing with the emotional issues it causes.”
We Hear You provide over 4,000 free professional counselling sessions a year to people who have been affected by cancer or other life-threatening conditions. The counselling service is available throughout Somerset, Bath and NE Somerset and Wiltshire, either face-to-face in individual/group settings or online, and caters for children, young people and adults.
