The Frome Times’ ‘Person of the Year 2013’ competition is now open, and it is time for you to make your nominations.
People are being asked to put forward their Person of the Year 2013 nominations, the only condition being that the person is from Frome or one of the surrounding villages or works in the town; and that the person has not previously won this award.
Frome has many individuals who work hard throughout the year to help other people, improve their town or raise money for charity. Or perhaps your nominee has shown acts of bravery, or offered voluntary services which have benefitted the local community?
Ian Drew, editor of the Frome Times said, “This is a chance to nominate someone who deserves recognition for their outstanding actions over the past year or who has had the biggest impact on life in the town.”
Last year the award went to Nigel Williams, of Williams Butchers in Baker Street, in what he described as ‘a vote for traditional values and good service and what Frome town centre has got to offer.’
In 2011 the award went to Peter Smith, the chair of the Friends of Frome Hospital, who led the hospital’s Centenary Appeal, which raised over £700,000 for the new hospital which opened in 2008.
Other previous winners have been street cleaner Mike Hall and Memorial Theatre stalwart Humphrey Barnes.
Email your nominations to news@frometimes.co.uk stating your name, address and contact number with your nominee’s name and why you are nominating them (We won’t disclose who has made the nominations).
A shortlist of nominees will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Frome Times, which will then be put to a public vote.
