FROME Community Circuit Training marks its first birthday this month and is offering fitness sessions for just £1 to celebrate.
The group was started by Frome residents Lucy McMahon and Claire Graham. It will be running classes at half price – just £1 per session – throughout October.
Lucy says, “We’re really pleased to be celebrating our first birthday and we’d love to see some new faces – come and give us a try!
“The benefits of exercise are far reaching and we’d like to share our class with as many people as possible to help improve the health and wellbeing of other Frome residents.
“I used to attend a couple of similar groups when I lived in Bristol and really missed them when I moved to Frome, so I decided to start my own.
“There’s no fitness instructor present and we don’t use much equipment. We warm up, then set up ten circuit stations; things like squats, skipping and star jumps and work our way round.
“Interval training is brilliant for cardiac health and because you work at your own pace and only do each activity for a minute, it’s suitable for all ages and fitness levels. It’s friendly, non-competitive and fun.
“We’re really lucky to have the support of Friends of the Mount, Marston and Keyford (the MCA), which lets us use the Key Centre for free. All our proceeds go towards their brilliant work in the local community.”
Community circuit training runs on Fridays from 8pm to 9pm at the Key Centre, Feltham Lane.
