If you like a good party then put the date of Saturday 12th September in your diaries as the Merlin Theatre brings you the biggest disco party Frome has seen in years. Get out your platform shoes and flared trousers and take yourself back in time to 1975 when the Merlin Theatre first opened its doors.
Although it didn’t hit the charts until 1976, the Merlin Theatre has chosen a Mamma Mia theme for its 40th Anniversary Celebrations 70’s Disco.
To get party goers in the mood the film will be shown from 7.00pm and this will be followed from 9.30pm – 1.00am by a 70’s disco by Andrew St John (aka Andrew Carpenter, new Board Member at the Merlin Theatre and who by coincidence is also celebrating his 40th anniversary as a DJ having carried out his first gig in July 1975).
Andrew will be playing all the favourite disco tracks of the late 70’s including Chic, Sister Sledge, Billy Ocean, The Bee Gees, The Four Seasons and of course Abba. He would like to hear from you if you are coming and have a favourite 70’s track you’d like to hear or just a ‘shout out’ by contacting him at Andrew.carpenter@virgin.net.
There will be nibbles available to buy at 9.00pm and in between the film and the disco.
Tickets cost £10.50 which includes both the film and the disco. They are available at the Merlin Theatre Box Office on 465949 or by emailing merlintheatreoffice@gmail.com Book early to avoid disappointment!
