Frome in Bloom held another highly successful annual presentation on Saturday 1st September, with many new entrants and a large amount of children receiving certificates and trophies.
Val Norvall, press officer for Frome in Bloom reports, “Chris Bailey-Green who is chairman of the governors at Selwood Academy, Frome, presented the prizes along with an announcer and superb filming by David Moon, a Frome in Bloom member.
“Frome in Bloom goes from strength to strength, and we can only hope the weather will be kinder to gardeners next year, to enable an even greater display around the town.”
Trophy winners were:- Play groups: Bright Stars Nursery; Sunflowers: Hayesdown First School; Young Gardener: jointly Lydia Morgan and Lily Kelly; Schools and Colleges: jointly Selwood Academy and Trinity First School; hotels and guest houses: The George Hotel; Pubs/cafes: Frome Park Bowls Club; Large businesses: J R.Harding and sons; retirement homes: Greenhill Grange; house frontage: Veronica O’Donoghue; small front garden: jointly John Knight and Gerald Jeanes; whole garden: Christine Foster; allotments(two trophies): Boyce Johnson and Andree Russell; Disabled person: Maugy Gibbs; wildlife garden: Vallis First School; the Carver Cup: Mo Hanney; Family garden: Wayne Kelly; previous non winner: Steve Morgan; hanging basket: Pat Doel; small hidden garden: Gerry Gasson; Large hidden garden: Dinah Randall; Large front garden: Arthur Gasson; Garden for all seasons: Mo Hanney.
